Pugly has managed to catch Kennel Cough again even though he’s been vaccinated. He was up all night the last two nights coughing and yesterday morning, he vomited. So instead of daycare, I took him to the vet. The vet put him on home rest and quarantine. No daycare and no visiting the neighborhood dogs.
However, he doesn’t seem to have lost his energy. He’s been chasing his tail and looking for birds and neighbors to bark at. Nor has he lost his appetite. He’s been on carpet patrol looking for morsels or even things he’s not supposed to eat like plastic or shoes.
In fact, Tuesday morning as I was pulling out of the driveway, I looked into the living room window, I saw Pugly standing on the coffee table. So, there I was stopped in the street, sitting in my Jeep, fussing at Pugly, telling him to get off the coffee table and there he was, staring at me from the living room coffee table through the window.
That probably went on for about 3 or 4 minutes.
And you know he could see me, pointing at him and gesturing for him to get down. And he was just standing there, mocking me, letting me know that when I wasn’t home, Pugs apparently are allowed on the coffee table.
He did get down and run to perch on his ottoman in front of the window before I drove away, but the message had been passed along.
And later that night…he was eating a paper towel…so he can’t be that sick, right?

Well, Pugly went to the vet yesterday and they gave him a clean bill of health plus a vacination for kennel cough. He can go back to doggy daycare next Monday. Lucky puppy!
And here I am in the hospital. After 4 hours of being unable to pee, they finally used a catheter to help relieve me of 700cc of pee-pee. Owie. That’s after they inserted long needles into my left kidney eight times; the doctor told my mother it was only three, but they didn’t use any drugs and I was wide awake for the whole thing. They weren’t kidding about making me lay flat on my back for six straight hours and the television channel selection sucks. I didn’t get to eat until nearly 2:30pm and dinner was only so-so. No caffeine until almost 6pm. The only painkiller is tylenol.
Right now I’m just praying for some sort of sleep that will take me until morning as I’m uncomfortable, it’s noisy and my arms ache in addition to my back and head.
And I miss my puppy and kitties. :((
Oh, and today they told me that I can’t pick up or walk Pugly for the next 5 days. Well, I can’t pick up anything over 10lbs for a week or two but no walking the dog for at least 5 days due to possible pulling. So my mom has to do all the walking. *sigh*

Well, Friday night, Pugly came home from doggy daycare with a hoarse bark and a really bad cough. Since Pugs are apt to have respiratory issues, clearly I was worried. So, we headed to the vet yesterday morning. Apparently, he picked up kennel cough from some questionable puppy at the doggy daycare. Poor thing.
So unfortunately for him, not only does he feel bad, he has an extra runny nose and this sad little bark, but he has to stay home for two weeks. No interaction with the apartment complex dogs either. Plus, I get to give him antibiotics and liquid Benadryl.
He can’t go back to doggy daycare until the vet gives him a clean bill of health and they give him a kennel cough vaccination. That’s not from the doggy daycare folks; it’s from the vet. I know he’s going to miss doggy daycare. He loves playing all day with other dogs and he hates his kennel. I’m certainly not looking forward to the daily fight of trying to get him out from under the sofa to go in his kennel.
