Discombobulated Thoughts - 04/25/06 - Grumpy Edition

Posted in My Life, Friends & Family, Discombobulated by n. mallory
  • Doctors and nurses make the worst patients and my mother is right up there.  She insists that her ankle can’t possibly be broken because it doesn’t hurt “that bad” and refuses to stay off her feet like she’s been told to.  She honestly believes the doctor is wrong.
  • My only surviving grandmother has taken a turn for the worse and is now refusing to socialize with anyone and has lost 20 lbs.
  • I think I forgot to take my meds this morning.
  • I’m sleepy and I’ve had bad insomnia for over a week.
  • My co-workers are being overly loud and annoying today.
  • I feel fat.
  • I

Discombobulated Thoughts - 03/31/2006

Posted in My Life, Discombobulated, The Puppy by n. mallory
  • I haven’t done these in a while.
  • I really like Crest’s new Lemon Ice flavor.
  • Zicam Oral Mist tastes like what I image camel piss must taste like.
  • Can’t wait to visit Pugly tomorrow.
  • I think N2 is avoiding me. Probably just being paranoid.
  • Overslept this morning.
  • Seriously need to get my house cleaned.
  • I haven’t checked my mail box in 3 days.
  • Fresh sheets on the bed are always lovely.
  • I still wish I had Karen Carpenter’s singing voice.
  • I definitely think there should be some sort of Life Coach/care-givers kind of person for depressives — rent-a-mom without the psychological guilt factor bult in.

I Am Alive & Going To England

I appologize for seemingly abandoning this blog. The truth is that I’ve been distracted by more than a few things in my life:

Discombobulated Nano Thoughts — 10/26/05

Posted in Writing, Discombobulated, NaNoWriMo2005 by n. mallory
  • I can’t believe Nano starts next week.
  • OMG!
  • I wonder what kind of music other people listen to while they write (and in what genre) or if they prefer silence.
  • What if I can’t get past the first few pages again this year?
  • I really keep hearing this story in first person in my head, but I’ve read somewhere that first person can be boring to the reader.
  • Either way, can I really write 50,000 words based on my experiences losing my job and moving to Maine and dealing with the first real Winter?
  • Really, how interesting can I make seeing real Fall foliage to

Discombobulated Links — 10/17/05

I don’t normally make a big deal about linking to other websites partly because I think my new discoveries are pretty well-established by the time I happen upon them and partly because I think people should link to who they like to read and not try to get more readers just because of who they link to. However, I have found some really good reads of late and I do want to share.

Discombobulated Thoughts - 10/07/05

  • I just discovered that I can subscribe to The Signal podcast via iTunes. Shiny.
  • I’ve felt nauseated all day and it has nothing to do with politics.
  • The new maple coffeecake muffin at Starbucks is so sickeningly sweet, it made me feel ill the moment I opened the bag.
  • I’m all signed up to try NaNoWriMo again. Hopefully I’ll make it past the first few days this year.
  • I’m toying with writing a vampire/hunter story in the midst of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
  • I’m still annoyed at PW but now for even more trivial things. She’s just slipping into

Discombobulated Reviews - 09/25/05

  • Dodgeball - While I often find Ben Stiller’s movies just too stupid for words and I grew to hate the game of dodgeball growing up, I found this movie the perfect mind-numbing weekend activity last weekend…well, I liked it enough to watch it twice anyway. I won’t say it was particularly good, but it wasn’t so horrible that I wanted my time back.
  • New York Minute - Now this was a waste of my time. Outside of the fact that I can say now withot a doubt that the Olsen twins have grown up from ugly baby to gorgeous

Discombobulated Katrina Thoughts - 08/31/05

  • I’m told that the gas station that was selling gas for $2.71 this morning here in Maine now has a sign for $3.20. Strange that it happened the day that Bush released the oil reserves due to the Gulf Coast catastrophe.
  • Last night I was correcting news reporters on their mispronunciation of Nawlins business names and locations. I guess they spent so long trying to get Spanish right that they didn’t work enough on French.
  • It was heart-warming to hear that people in Arizona and Florida are offering their extra bedrooms to Katrina refugees.
  • My mother assured me this morning that

Discombobulated Thoughts — Aug. 24, 2005

Posted in My Life, Discombobulated by n. mallory
  • Someone’s going to die in this office today and it’s not going to be me.
  • I have decided that on Sept. 7th, after my vacation, I am going back to eating healthy and watching my weight, but I am not going to obsess about food.
  • I cannot find either of my copies of The Gradual Vegetarian. I’m sure the cats have hid them somewhere.
  • I really need a vacation.
  • I don’t know why but I’ve been craving toast for days. I don’t normally eat or buy bread so it’s weird that I’m fantasizing about lightly toasted bread smeared with real butter mixed

Discombobulated Thoughts - Aug. 20, 2005

  • Once you’ve retrained your cat to use the litter box, how do you keep him from trailing litter all over the place?
  • My laptop has developed a nasty habit of locking up for no reason and then not wanting to boot up again after being shutdown.
  • I guess I’m going to have to buy a new laptop in a month or two; too bad this one hasn’t been paid off yet. :(
  • I wrenched my back trying to carry stuff upstairs. :(
  • Saw Fergie on While You Were Out; she really is a very cool lady. I don’t know who I was more

Is It Just Me?

Is it just me or is Bill Maher starting to look older than he is? I wonder if he’s sick.

Discombobulated Thoughts for Aug. 14, 2005

  • I’ve been partially lazy and partially migrainy all weekend and therefore haven’t gotten everything I wanted to do this weekend done. Though all the dresser drawers at least are all back in the dressers. ;)
  • I’ve watched way too much Night Court on TV Land this weekend.
  • I am really having problems sleeping at night. I got paged twice in the middle of the night Friday and so was wary of taking the ambien last night in case they paged me again.
  • They didn’t…and I tossed and turned.
  • I actually made a lot of changes to the website while I was laying

Discombobulated Thoughts — Aug. 11, 2005

Posted in My Life, Geekery, Discombobulated, Web Design by n. mallory
  • There is nothing comparable to waking up to a freshly vacuumed carpet.
  • I love my Dyson Animal.
  • The dumb people are giving me serious headache issues.
  • I have finally come to the understanding that all people only see and hear what they want whether it’s politics or work-related or television-related.
  • I’d forgotten how tedious coding an entire website from scratch and by hand is. Why did I do that again? Am I getting credit for it? My boss better appreciate how hard it was to put together an intranet site about medicinal leeches…it’s not easy to make it look nice and
