The Story So Far…

Posted in My Life by n. mallory

Last night I told Pugly that we needed to be up extra early because I had an 8am PT appointment and yesterday morning he hadn’t been all that helpful about helping me get to my 8:30am acupuncture appointment on time.  He hadn’t seemed all that impressed last night but I thought that maybe something might change in the middle of the night.

The truth is that I don’t do 8am appointments very well.

So, I overslept.  I woke up at 6:30am, knowing full well that I needed to leave by 7:15am if I were going to get to the city in time.

Project 365 (Day 10): Creepy Back Hallway

Posted in Photo Blogging, Project 365 by n. mallory

10 of 365: Creepy Back Hallway

You know that creepy back hallway you need a security badge to get out of that I mentioned yesterday? Well, here it is…

Never know who might be lurking in there that might want to just wander into our work area and steal our valuable…erm…pens and pencils.

Take a look at the ceiling…it’s evidence that the building is a converted parking garage.

Thursday Thirteen Vanity Plates I Took Pictures Of This Week (#20)

Today’s Thursday Thirteen is brought to you by the letters W, I, and G, and the numbers 5 and 23.

I found these all in less than seven days. I swear, New Englanders have the most Vanity Plates per square mile. :P

Thirteen Things about N. Mallory

  1. This guy is just “CREWZN.”
    Vanity Plate: CREWZN
  2. I can only imagine this person is a self-styled “gangsta”. Though, in a Mazda? Probably not very credible.
    Vanity Plate: XBUGSYX
  3. This must be a mother.

Project 365 (Day 9): Security Violation

Posted in My Life, Photo Blogging, Project 365 by n. mallory

9 of 365: Security Violation

Where I work, if you don’t have a security badge, you can’t get back from the dimly lit hall where the bathrooms are to the office without wedging the door open with a trashcan. We’ve been told this is a serious security violation as that could lead to just anyone wandering in.

There used to be a “guest” badge for visitors of the building to borrow — you know, those folks who have meetings in the conference room, consultants, schmucks who’ve left their real security badges on their

2007 Goals For Living Green

Posted in My Life, Geekery, Green Living, Gardening by n. mallory

Here are the goals I’m setting for myself to work on this year to work toward greener living. (I’ve chosen these from the book It’s Easy Being Green by Crissy Trask.) Through the year, as I check things off to my satisfaction or want to update the list, I’ll be doing it over in the memos/pages area.

Prepare To Drop The Delurking Device — It’s National Delurking Week

Posted in Geekery, Blogging & Other Blogs by n. mallory

Thanks to Buttercup, I discovered it’s National Delurking Week. Who knew? And who comes up with these things and when? Inquiring minds want to know, you know.

Anyway!

So what is it? Apparently, it’s the week when all the lurkers out there are finally supposed to own up to the fact that they visit blogs — you know, come out of the virtual blog closet, so to speak. The idea is that if you read a blog and have never actually commented, you’re supposed to leave a

Get Me On The Bribe List ASAP

Posted in Geekery, Blogging & Other Blogs, Free Stuff by n. mallory

Over at Thudfactor, James has talking about how companies are willing to give things away to bloggers who mention them or review them in their blogs.

I don’t mean those payperpost folks that give you some piddling fee to misrepresent yourself and tell everyone you’ve used a product or a website and highly endorse it, heck, you’ll bet your first born’s life on it… (Yes, I checked it out. It made me feel dirty and slimy. I never did see where anyone got anything for free to try when the product cost money to buy

Project 365 (Day 8): Water Therapy

8 of 365: Water Therapy

Since the beginning of December, I’ve been going twice a week to physical therapy in this warm water pool to treat my fibromyalgia. This week I’m switching to once a week on land and once a week in the water. I’m going to miss the comfort of not sweating during my aerobic workout. ;)

However, an hour in warm water always makes me a little “rushed” afterward…just saying.

Unwanted House Critters

Well, it appears that I’ve got signs of at least one unwanted house critter — though you know if there’s one, there’s more.

Project 365 (Day 7): Empties — Plus Some Ponderings

Posted in Photo Blogging, Project 365 by n. mallory

7 of 365: Empties

You wouldn’t know it from looking at my desk at work, but I really have cut way down on my caffeine. I’m just way too sleepy now to carry the empties to the recycle bin. :P

By the way, I edited this picture using the online editor at pxn8.com, which I heard about from Amber Rhea (PXN8: Awesome online photo editor) a while back and for some reason saved the post. Maybe I fore-knew that I’d

Monday’s A Bitch: 01/08/2007

Random Joy

  1. After a long day, I like to kick back with…? HGtv, my afghan, and my animals.
  2. Do you know anyone “famous”/who is the “most famous” person you’ve ever met? I’ve met lots of famous people at sci-fi conventions — actors, writers, and artists. Most seem to be more down to earth at them. Laurell K. Hamilton, Jewell Staite, Ruth Thompson and Timothy Zahn come to mind. Didn’t care for Anne McCaffrey or Claudia Christian at all.

Project 365 (Day 6): Study in Stained Glass

Posted in Photo Blogging, Project 365 by n. mallory

6 of 365: Study in Stained Glass

I’ve been playing with my camera and my stained glass piece in my picture window; I like the way the beveled piece on the left shows in the photo.  I only have two crab apple trees in my front yard, by the way.
