The Real Post-Christmas Question On Everyone’s Mind

“How am I going to get the tree down into the basement without taking the lights off or taking it apart?”

Or is that just me?

Seriously, it’s been on my mind since I pulled the tree out of the box and strung those lights this year. This is the first year I’ve had a basement to store it in rather than a niche hidden by a hanging sheet in my bedroom corner. If I could figure out how to get it back down in the basement without damaging the paint on my walls or killing myself on the basement steps, I’d be one of those crazy people.

I considered that obviously those doors going from the backyard to the basement are twice as big and the steps are fewer, but I’d still have to get it outside, wouldn’t I? If I took it out of the front door, there’d just be one door, but I’d have to take it around the house. If I take it out the back door, well, there’s two doors, a doorway, the kitchen and the dining room to contend with. I wish they’d just invent a transporter already.
I did know a family growing up that had their tree up all year long in the living room…but then, we didn’t think too highly of them.

Of course, I dated both the boys.
