- Why do the evil usually triumph? — Omni @ Every Topic in the Universe(s?) has some interesting insights into the whole good vs. evil thing. Of course, she starts off correctly pointing out that there are very few good people in the world. For the most part, people are generally neutral. To be good, you have to be willing to actually take action against evil and few people are willing to do so.
10) Evil is persistent: They’ll gleefully do an infinite # of evil deeds, and will literally NEVER grow tired of it, because they LOVE what they’re doing; if there’s a goal other than just causing trouble forever, they’ve got what it takes to see it through. On the other hand, if you can get good or neutral people to make ONE decisive move, they act as if they’ve just climbed Everest and are all done in… and just plain DONE, because, no matter how obvious it is that the evil have NOT been stopped yet, their attitude will be that they did their best and that’s it. Even if they’re being personally attacked, even if they stand to lose a great deal if the attack “destroys” them, they’ll rarely put forth more than a token effort before giving it up as hopeless.
- They Want You To Vote In The Dark — olvlzl @ Echidne Of The Snakes writes about the connection between the media and the government ellite and how the two conspire to keep certain bits of information for the public — you know, us — supposedly for our own good, but really so as to influence us to do what the government ellite wants at the polls. The truly harmful bits of facts are held until after elections to keep us voting in the dark.
If Baker and Hamilton are afraid that they will be criticized, too bad. This isn’t all about them. If they have reliable information about this war they have no right to keep it hidden until after The People could have used it. Jefferson was right, a government is only legitimate if it acts with the consent of the governed. An uninformed public cannot give legitimate consent, the government that results from ignorance cannot be legitimate, it will produce a disaster.
How dare these two hacks withhold any facts from the Voters. How dare the alleged news media endorse that decision. The media purports to exist for the purpose of informing the People so they can govern but here we see their real purpose, to shield the elite from information that could result in their replacement. Anyone calling themselves journalists who have supported this decision should be known for what they are, shills for secret government.
- No-fly list confirmed useless to stop terrorists — “The government doesn’t want that information outside the government,” Cathy Berrick, director of Homeland Security investigations for the General Accounting Office, told CBS News. See, that may tip the terrorists off that we know about them if we stop them in airports…
