Stop Comforting Me Already
J: Really, you have nothing to worry about. Those kinds of surgeries are done every day and everything’s fine. It’s like when you had LASIK.
Me: LASIK? Do you actually remember when I had LASIK?
J: um….
Me: There was all this pain? Most painful thing I did to myself on purpose? There was a problem with the surgery done on my right eye? I had to have the surgery redone 6 months later? The recovery was longer than everyone else?
J: Um… oh, yeah. Never mind. This will be better.
Me: Great now my eye is twitching.
Really, I think she meant well…
Damn, my eye is twitching again.

Oh that’s funny. Wait a sec… Ok, now I’m never entertaining the thought of having lasik done. I’ll console myself by buying an inordinate selection of eyeglasses.
Oooh… Armani…

Actually, I swear that LASIK, while being the most painful thing I ever did to myself on purpose, was the best thing I did for myself. It was well worth all of the problems.
Everyone else I’ve talked to has been problem free. I’m just special that way. With me, there has to be a glitch.
Plus, the procedure is much more fine tuned now.
Though my uncle did go back six months later and have the surgery again because he wanted 15/15 vision, he had no issues.

I used to think about getting LASIK, but I’ve heard of a couple of really bad cases of it going wrong. And just, I remember reading you have to keep your eyes absolutely still, and I can’t even begin to imagine pulling that off (ADD… twitchy… nervous energy…). I’m also not so bothered by my glasses as I used to be, thank goodness. Glad to hear it’s worked out so well for you!
