Blog House-Cleaning

Posted in Geekery, Blogging & Other Blogs, Web Design by n. mallory | .

Did some blog-related house-cleaning today.

Media Girl stopped by and dropped me a note to let me know that some script running on my site was breaking her mouse scroll button/bar.  I tried it on Windows 2000 and Windows XP with Firefox and IE (bleh) and couldn’t recreate it.  I’m not sure what OS she has or what browser.  I’ll drop her a line later, but programmer that I am, I did some code digging and decided that it had to be the script I got from dynamic drive to fold my links menu in my side bar.  It looked nifty, but it’s gone.  I’ve moved the links to their own page.  I wish I could figure out how to make them “fold” into two columns “automatically”.
Because of that, I got to thinking that I’ve been lazy since putting up this new design and I haven’t done my w3 validation check and I knew that I should.  (By the way, that aforementioned script was not w3 valid.)  Anyway, so everything is w3 valid now, but I did notice that some of the css doesn’t look as nice in IE.  Sorry about that.  I haven’t decided if I’m going to try to fix it as I’ve become something of a Firefox snob. :P

I’m currently trying to find a Wordpress plugin that counts the number of times posts are read but the only one I found didn’t actually work once I got it installed. :(

I’m also trying to find a plugin that will upload the top ten most played songs from my iTunes.

I’m still playing around with the sidebar.  Added some random stuff about myself that should be dynamic.  I dunno.  I’m just toying with it.  We’ll see.
