Weird Dreams

Posted in My Life, Friends & Family by n. mallory | .

I’m back to having weird dreams and restless sleep despite the ambien. Strange that for a while after they increased the effexor, I slipped back into quiet nights and rest.

Anyway, I had three very weird dreams over the weekend that I wanted to make note of. Kind of worrisome I guess.

In the first, I was working in a very large building, lots of elevators, escalators and stairs. People worked and lived in this building and it was maybe a couple times the size of the Superdome. For a while my friends from New Orleans were there and we were doing some sort of live action roleplaying, but I had to go to work and when I went back to my room/apartment, I suddenly had a baby. I don’t mean that I gave birth and even in the dream that much was sure. The child had been given to me or left to me or something. He was less than a year old and extremely well-behaved, hardly cried, wasn’t fussy. It was all very odd.

(Note that this is the second dream in a few months where I dreamt that I inherited children. Why anyone would do that to their children, I don’t know.)

In the second dream, I was at PW & English’s new home and it was undecorated and had no furniture but we all were on computers playing on some sort of online roleplaying game like Everquest (which is where they met). I somehow became my character in the game and was in the game. I was going through the selection of a “familiar” type character to follow me around and give me help and selected an Indian mystic woman. When my character was captured by some other players, I became the mystic and she was very upset that she was going to be shipped back home where she wouldn’t be able to support her son.

In the third dream, I dreamt that half of the cubicles in my office had been removed and replaced with rows of chairs for some sort of ceremony like a graduation or wedding. I arrived at work late because I’d been feeling ill earlier. However, I could not keep my eyes open. Even while I was walking, my eyes were heavy and all I wanted to do was go to sleep.

So there they are. I don’t know what my subconscious is trying to tell me.

Though, oddly after the dream with PW in it, I saw the movie Troy and I couldn’t help but be reminded of “the good ole days” when we used to game in her tiny studio apartment and she was playing this blonde adonis warrior character who in my mind must have looked exactly like Achilies. Made me a little nostalgic. Furthermore, there was a cat on one of those home improvement shows that looked just like her cat.

Strange coincidences?

Dreams are bizarre. I rarely remember mine to that degree, but they’re always fascinating. I have no idea what yours mean, but they don’t sound like they portend anything bad!
