Friday Puppy Blogging: Pug Puppies Everywhere!

Posted in My Life, Photo Blogging, The Puppy by n. mallory

Time for the Friday Ark again and I’ve got puppy blogging this week!

How cute is this? (Don’t ask me which one Pugly is…all those cute pug faces looking over the edge look the same at that age…)

However, that’s his tushy facing the camera…Yes, that’s my boy (with the orange collar) standing smack dab in the middle of the food dish trying to keep everyone else out so only he can have the food. I’m such a proud Mama. :D

Pensieve

I’d like to say TGIF but quite frankly the day of the week means nothing to me. The weekend may be more time alone at home to sulk and stare at an empty inbox or an unrining telephone or an IM-less Y!M.

OK for about seven hours Sunny and Queer Eye will be there to distract me a little tomorrow but then it’ll be just me and the kitties and my runaway thoughts again.

I talked to SQ last night from about 11:30pm to about 1:30 (she’s on the West Coast, you know). She could tell I was distressed and

You May Pat My Back Now

Posted in My Life, Wellness, Anxiety/Depression by n. mallory

I really need a pat-myself-on-the-back moment right now. (I’ll explain later in another more lengthy post).

I’ve been mening to make of list of recenent sucesses and accomplishments as far as pulling myself out of this last big depressive episode. That way they’re all in one big place.

A Requested Improvement For Y!M

Posted in Geekery, Computer & Gadget Talk by n. mallory

I would like a few new Smilies:

  • One that gives the person I’m talking to the bird.  I have found a need for that one in particular this week.
  • One that has a little vise on it’s head to represent having a migraine so other people will know how I feel.
  • One that looks like Wednesday Adams or injects the other chatter with a sense of humor because apparently even when I put a smiley after my sarcastic dark smartass remark, I’m still attacked for being serious and too negative.

I would also like to be able to selectively choose which Status message to

Crashing

When it feels as though your friends are abandoning you and that you’ve been betrayed and the world is crumbling around you, how do you stop the crying so you can just go on with your day?

How do you behave as if all is well in the world and your heart isn’t breaking while you sit at your desk wondering who you have left on your side?

When you’ve turned to a person you trusted and opened yourself up and been honest and needy and asked for understanding only to have them kick you even as you were reaching out for

Personal Organizer: A Photo-spective

Posted in My Life, Clean Sweep, Photo Blogging by n. mallory

About 45 minutes into the first session with Sunny it occurred to us that we should really have taken before photos. It’s too bad you didn’t see what the kitchen really looked like before we started because then you’d realize what a brave woman Sunny is. :P Let’s just say that there wasn’t an uncovered surface in the kitchen when we started and I tried to get Sunny to wear a gas mask as she approached the kitchen counters and sink.

In this picture below, you can kind of see the corner of the cube cabinet that is of

How Many Times Must I Say I’m Sorry?

Let’s get something straight right now. We all have hobbies, right? I mean, there are those of you out there who are seriously interested in WWF wrestling, golf, knitting, scrapbooking, bird-watching, and even bigfoot hunting. I don’t mock. Much. These things are important to you.

I have a tendency to put down my own hobby as being silly and my therapist tries to discourage that because it’s important to me. I try to write-off it’s importance because it’s a “game.” Obviously games are not as important as other things in life and therefore don’t

Bush Sold Us The War Based On The Biggest Sand Toilets In The World

So, back to those missing WMD we never found…remember when Bush told us that we found evidence of mobile biological laboratories in Iraq which further proved Sadaam was up to no good? Apparently they were just “the biggest sand toilets in the world” and Bush knew it and yet he like the incorrect “evidence” he had Libby leak to Judy Miller, he pushed the “find” of the trailers on the media as a victory of the war.

On May 29, 2003, 50 days after the fall of Baghdad, President Bush proclaimed a fresh victory for his administration in Iraq: Two

What Are You Teaching Your Children?

Posted in Soap Box by n. mallory

TLC’s been running these “Life’s Lessons” commercials lately that are kind of funny and cute. People get little collectible trophy/figurines of horrible life mistake moments like a a husband who won’t turn the tv off while his wife is trying to neck or a woman yelling at someone and a little girl mimicing her and on and on. I like the one where the little girl is on the phone gossiping and telling whoever is on the other line about someone who has a new man every Friday and a new car in her driveway every Friday and

Personal Organizer: Day Three

Posted in My Life, Clean Sweep by n. mallory

I spent five hours working with Sunny on Monday.  That’s not to say that I didn’t spend a gazillion hours on my own over the weekend sorting and cleaning here and there on my own, but nothing like the serious business she and I do when she’s there.  Though I might try my hand at that this weekend some.

Oh and she laughed at my poor excuse of a strainer.  I admit it’s sad.  I have $1000 restaurant-quality pots and pans and really nice serving dishes and am particular about my utensils but I have this sad plastic pasta strainer.  I

Fudging Ohio’s 2004 Recount

Posted in Politics & Causes, In the News, The World, Featured by n. mallory

Can you believe that it’s 2006 and we are still talking about voting irregularities in 2004?In fact, can you believe that it’s 2006, and three Ohio election officials are just now being indicted for their participation in “fudging” the Ohio 2004 recount?

Let’s talk about some facts in the case, shall we?

Itchy

Posted in My Life, Wellness by n. mallory

I know the friggin’ allergist said I’m not allergic to anything but my arms, hands, back, and chest itch and have been itching for days and months and it’s getting worse and today it has reached intolerable. I cannot stop scratching. It’s downright painful and I can’t reach all the spots on my back that itch.

And it’s distracting.

I’d say I was allergic to my detergent, but I can’t be since I’m not allergic to anything, right? Besides, what is there besides liquid Tide? I hang dry half my clothes.
It itches where my necklace is.

Now They’re Outsourcing McDonalds

Posted in In the News, The World, Featured by n. mallory

What would you say if I told you that the next time you pull up to a McDonalds or a Hardee’s drivethru to place your order, the person on the other end of that speaker could be 12 feet away or 150 miles away or a continent away?

Would you believe me?

I mean, surely computer companies aren’t the only ones who can utilize the anti-American dream of outsourcing; the promise of lower pay in sweatshop-like conditions can be the hope of any industry if well-thought out.

And fast food has found a way to join in the fun.

A call center

A Sprinkle Of Humor With The Morning Coffee

Posted in Some Fun Now by n. mallory

I had a three day weekend and was sort of dreading the gazillion emails that appear in my inbox when that happens. At least I can always trust the office manager to sprinkle some humor in with all of the office stupidity that happens even when I’m not here.

shop at home

(Seriously, these days, it might get to the above. I mean people are going to the store in their PJs now. How soon until they’re just in their undies?)

burger and fries

(Truth in advertising? I

TLC & Naughty Sex Toy Secrets

If you even occassionally skim these entries you know I’m addicted to TLCs home invasion shows. You know the ones where they invade someone’s house and redo a room or two. I have huge crushes on Evan Farmer and that blonde carpenter Eric on Clean Sweep.

I was thinking this weeking while I was watching TLC since I’m experiencing my own home invasion of a personal organizer that you never see anyone on those shows accidently discover anything “untoward” or something the owners’ parents would be horrified to see on national t.v. You certainly never see them sorting

Does It Take A Villiage?

Posted in Soap Box by n. mallory

I was in the grocery store yesterday, waiting in the checkout line and I noticed this little boy of about six to eight years of age. He was kneeling in front of the candy in the checkout line in front of me though his mother was unloading her full cart two lines down. He zipped up his coat, took a Hershey bar and slid it into the neck of his coat. When he stood up, the candy bar slid out the bottom. He immediately reached down, grabbed the bar and tried again.

So, here’s my question: At this point, would you tell the boy’s mother, tell the boy to put the candy bar back, tell a store employee, or ignore it and mind your own business, thinking about the Netflix movie that arrived in your mailbox today?

Personal Organizer: Little Lessons

Posted in My Life, Clean Sweep by n. mallory

I’m already picking up a couple of lessons that Sunny obviously intended for me to learn without actually telling me to do them.  Tricky and very sly.
For one thing she took away my dishpan.  She filled it with the things that were under the sink.  So now, there’s no way to just dump things in the dishpan to soak.  I have to deal with it right then.  Rinse it and put it in the dishwasher or wash it and put it in the dishdrain.  This also means there’s no dilly-dallying with the dishwasher and dishdrain either.  The dishwasher has to
