The Mallory’s Gingerbread House
My mom and I have always said we wanted to make one of those Gingerbread Houses with all the icing and candy decorations one Christmas. We can now cross that off our lists as tried. It’s really a sad little Gingerbread House. Apparently, we’re both excellent cooks but we need some classes in cake decoration. However, it was fun since I wasn’t worrying about being perfect.

Sounds almost like my last attempt at making my mother a birthday cake. My sister (who usually does the cake) was busy so I volunteered to make it. I baked it up fine (well, I used cake mix out of the box, but for someone who always buys cakes when my turn comes around at work that’s a big step). Apparently though, you’re supposed to let the cake cook down before you put the icing on. It produced an interesting glazed effect I had planned on.
