Kill ‘Em All & Let Allah Sort Them Out!

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — The U.S. military said Monday that coalition forces launched airstrikes Sunday in and around Ramadi, west of Baghdad, killing “an estimated 70 terrorists.”

But an Iraqi doctor who reported 20 people killed — including six children — and 25 wounded said all those were civilians.

An Iraqi Ministry of Health official also said one child was killed and two women wounded in the airstrikes.

Military officials said they had no reports of civilians killed. [“Iraq airstrikes kill dozens in Ramadi area”]

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that the American military has apparently made the decision to count all non-American dead as “insurgents”? Even children? Innocent bystanders must be guilty by association or, at the very least, location.

In one operation Sunday, a precision-guided bomb killed up to 20 insurgents east of Ramadi after military personnel observed them planting a bomb at the site of Saturday’s blast that killed five U.S. and two Iraqi soldiers, a U.S. military statement said.

“[They] were not terrorists — they were only a bunch of civilians whose curiosity prompted them to gather around a destroyed Humvee,” said Dr. Dhiya Fahdawi, who treated people at a hospital in Ramadi. [“Iraq airstrikes kill dozens in Ramadi area”]

You know, I understand that in war, some civilians are bound to be killed, but it would be nice, if we made sure we were aiming for the actual “bad guys”.

These conflicting accounts are just more evidence that it’s chaos over there and we are only adding to the chaos we created. Or maybe it’s evidence that our military doesn’t see anyone over there as civillian anymore. If we can no longer tell who it is we’re helping, then maybe we shouldn’t be there.

American government is elected by public vote and every one who choose this government are responsible for the blood of innocent.

First of all let me say that I was in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division and I have a brother currently in Iraq with the 2nd Infantry Division. Most people who make the kinds of comments I’m seeing here have never been to war and to see what really goes on there. I know firsthand. Let me tell Syed that we are far from cowards. Civilians die in war. That’s a brutal fact.Do you realize how many civilians were killed in WWII by the United States.Would you rather have not bombed Germany and Japan and be living as a Nazi today. The United States has done a very good job in keeping civilian casualties down.I don’t think we really need to be in Iraq and I don’t support Bush. I do however support my friends and family who are still there fighting the insurgents. You people are totally in the dark about the war.If you’re so gung -ho about saving Iraqi civilians why don’t you join a humanitarian group and go over and help them.It seems to me the real cowards are the ones who talk shit and don’t do anything about it,like Syed for example.
