War-Photos-For-Porn Website Owner Arrested
Remember that guy who was encouraging U.S. soldiers to post pictures of war dead on the Internet in exchange for access to porn on his website?
Well, he’s been arrested.
But not for what you think.
Christopher Michael Wilson, a former police officer and owner of the sickening website, has had 300 obscenity-related charges filed against him by Polk County in Florida, but none of them involve the graphic war-scene images posted by soldiers; they’re all about the sexual content of his website.
Late last week, U.S. Army officials said they could not confirm whether photographs on Wilson’s Web site, presumably showing Iraqi and Afghan war dead, were actually posted by U.S. soldiers. [“War-dead Web site leads to Polk obscenity arrest

Have they seen the pictures? I mean, the pictures themselves were being used as proof that said soldiers were actually soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Does the army think that random non-military are taking and posting these horrible pictures?
An Islamic civil-rights group was disappointed that the Army did not pursue criminal charges. Last week, Ibrahim Hooper, a Council on American-Islamic Relations spokesman, said: “For this to be treated in a manner that suggests the Army does not take this seriously is only going to further harm our nation’s image and interests around the world, particularly in the Muslim world.” [“War-dead Web site leads to Polk obscenity arrest

You know that if this site were accepting pictures of dead Americans, the U.S. government would be demanding the offenders be turned over and sent to Gitmo. We are such bullies with such double standards.
You know this really pisses me off.

I read this story too, and was disappointed that they arrested the webmaster.
Back when it was just a porn site, I used to enjoy visiting the site to look at the pictures. I even posted one or two myself (mostly just of me pleasuring myself.)
I think they oughta have just moved the war dead pictures to another site.

You know…I really think that might have been an overshare…
I just don’t think the war dead pictures should be on any site. Not only do I think the soldiers should be taking them like trophies, I think it’s hypocrictical of this government to fight allowing the Abu Ghraib photos but allow these deplorable pictures to be public. I think it shows that we are animals and no better than the terrorists we’re fighting. If it were photos of dead Americans, we would be outraged. If I were an Iraqi, I’d be less likely to see the Americans who would objectify and celebrate the death and mutilation of my friends, family, and countrymen (and women) as liberators. The web-master might as well put a link for Iraqis to sign up with Al-Q right there on the page.

Uhm, Mallory, the Iraqis don’t need a web site to see dead Iraqis killed by American soldiers. All they need to do is walk out their front door. There is no Iraqi family anywhere in Iraq who has not had at least a distant relative killed by American soldiers. Al Qaida doesn’t need a web site to gain thousands of recruits in Iraq. We’re providing all the advertising they need, one bullet at a time, each bullet killing someone’s brother, father, cousin, nephew, neice, daughter, aunt, or mother.
The people who need to know that this is what war is, the people who need to see these dead bodies, blood, gore, and all, and who need to know that this is the true nature of war, live right here in the United States of America — all those patriotic jingoistic flag-waving buffoons quick to send other people’s children to kill and be killed, who view the events in Iraq as just another reality television show, “Survivor: Iraq” where those who are voted off the island just slightly more permenantly get voted off the island.
Finally, I leave you with the words of William Tecumseh Sherman, who knew a little bit about war:
“You cannot qualify war in harsher terms than I will. War is cruelty, and you cannot refine it; and those who brought war into our country deserve all the curses and maledictions a people can pour out.”
Amen, brother. Amen. Whether those who did so are al Qaeda operatives in Pakistan who brought war to us in New York City, or neo-conservatives in Washington who brought war to us in Iraq.
