I Am The Center Of The Universe

Kid you not, my boss actually told someone that yesterday.

Of course, that’s a little out of context.

Basically, MJ was up to her untrusting ways again. She really doesn’t trust anyone to do anything right though she has a tendency to screw things up quite a bit on her own. So she was going on and on about who was going to co-ordinate testing for the new upgrade for this one application.

Mind you, I was the integeration lead for the project in the last upgrade and as far as Integration, it went amazingly well.

I am the integration lead for this upgrade too.

Suddenly, I assume to shut MJ up, my boss said, “As far as you’re concerned, Mallory is the center of the universe for this project. All integration issues and fixes should be reported to her.”

And of course, I said, “Yes! I always knew I was the center of the universe!”

This of course, made it harder to try to tell my boss later that there was something I couldn’t do. It was the first time since I got here that I had to admit I wasn’t perfect — and I hate that.

It was a very frustrating day. Lots of pressure to do miracle programming working on an interface that apparently no one in the office understood or had ever worked on. Of course, the users sprung on me that they needed it to work by Monday for training. I thought they meant they were starting training of employees — it’s just a demo session for the super-users. It wasn’t as vital as they made it to be.

Oy.

Anyway, I barely had time to do anything else yesterday.
