Sick

I have been sick the last few days. I think it’s a combination of insomnia inspired by the need to get the hurricane katrina website up and running (stayed up for 24 hours) and nightmares regarding the hurricane, evacuating, and trying to get back into New Orleans. I figure I’m suffering from some sort of survivor’s guilt and this hasn’t helped my usual depressive state. I plan to discuss with a doctor. This has also resulted in migraines and nausea.

I was fortunate to sleep most of the day today but it wasn’t restful due to the nightmares…and now I’m hoping to sleep tonight.

I have denied myself the news today other than that which has been passed on via email and phone by friends and family on the Katrina Front Lines. I’m hoping to stop obsessing soon and get back to life.

But it has been one of those days where I wished I’d just throw up and get it over with.

   Sorry to hear that you’re feeling bad. I hope it’s better soon. Remind yourself that obsessively reading/watching the news does not help any of the victims, and it can be harmful to you as well. I think your decision to stick to personal updates is very smart!
