Discombobulated Thoughts - September 1, 2005
- My posting will probably be sparse as I am on vacation.
- My father is concerned about a gas shortage and therefore has decided not to come visit this month.
- In light of this, my mother headed out to Houston this morning to train nurses at the Astrodome in disaster recovery. Then she will be headed off to Louisiana.
- I want to be my mother when I grow up.
- My laptop keyboard is semi-behaving at the moment, but I’ll be buying a new laptop ASAP.
- I wish there was something more I could do to help the Gulf Coast than just give money.
- I did wear my “I am the bad guy” t-shirt on the plane.

Discombobulated responses….
1. But, like me, you can’t stay away from your site, even on vacation…
2. Man, this is about to become a huge problem. As if things weren’t bad enough. I can’t afford to go anywhere. I’ve seen places gouging people for $6 a gallon in the south. Some people are unfortunate enough to make only 6/hr…
3. We (in the disaster preparedness field) are really pushing to recruit medical folks from our region (18 counties in Michigan) to send down south. Actually, there’s a huge push from HHS to gather medical personnel from all states to set up mobile hospitals, shelters, etc. Like you, I wish I could go, but am unable to do so. But I’ll do my part by recruiting people to send down there.
4. I don’t want to grow up.
5. Since my PC died, I’m trying to adjust to life using my work laptop. Since all of my programs, passwords, shortcuts, etc were on that PC, it’s difficult to adjust to say the least….
6. Sigh….me too. In fact, I wish I could even give money. My wife and I are in the process of buying a house, and actually have no money. No joke. Buying food is difficult at the moment. I only wish I could go, or send money, or something. So, what I’m doing is pushing other people who are able to donate or volunteer to do so. I feel pretty sick about it, but at least it’s something.
7. You go, girl!
