Websites For Locating Katrina’s Missing Persons
The following websites have set up areas to help people find friends and family who are presumed missing due to Hurricane Katrina:
- nola.com - also has message boards for reporting status of communities in the New Orleans and surrounding areas
- NowPublic’s Katrina Missing Persons Board
- al.com:Mobile message board
- The Mississippi Sun Herald has set up a number for residents to call to let someone know they are O.K. (1-866-453-1925)
- Update: The American Red Cross maintains a database to help you find family. Contact your local American Red Cross chapter for information. Do not contact the chapter in the disaster area.
- National Next of Kin Registry
- The Times-Picayune
