O’Reilly Says Lesbians Can Be Christians Too
O.K. I admit it. Sometimes when I’m bored and I’ve already seen Spike TV’s CSI rerun two or three times, I channel surf and sometimes I stop on Fox News.
I know. I’m a naughty liberal.
Worse, I’m more likely to stop if it’s O’Reilly.
I know. I’m kind of ashamed.
The truth is that half the time he makes me mad and half the time he makes me laugh because most of what comes out of his mouth is just so ridiculous. I sometimes like to count how many times he likes to point out that he’s “fair and balanced” and he doesn’t “spin” anything like saying it enough times makes it true.
However, I paused last night because he was interviewing Bill Maher and strangely I didn’t really like everything Maher said and really can’t remember much of it, but I did hang around for the segment where O’Reilly reads and responds to the mail.
Apparently on a previous show, he’d made the comment that “lesbians can be Christians too.” I must admit that when he said that I actually started paying attention because I was surprised something like that would come out of his mouth plus it’s very weird to find you agree with O’Reilly on something when you’re a liberal.
Anyway, some lady wrote in and told him that the only person who gets to decide who is a Christian is God not him.
Which actually still makes his statement true. Lesbians can be Christians too. Who knows whether or not God thinks they can’t but God. God loves all of us, even the sinners. Just because we sin doesn’t mean we can’t be Christians. Certainly there isn’t a single one of us without sin.
Anyway, I thought I’d confess. Good for O’Reilly…I think.
