For the true t.v. addict

Posted in Geekery, Computer & Gadget Talk by n. mallory | .

When I first moved to Maine, in the absence of having the daily news update from informed co-workers, I got in the habit of watching CNN for an hour every morning. The way the apartment is set up, there’s no way to leave the t.v. on in either the bedroom or office and hear it in the bathroom — damn good insulation, I guess. Well, I suppose I could have turned up the volume to share with my neighbors but that’s not neighborly, is it?

Anyway, I explored trying to figure out how I could somehow transmit the sound from either t.v. to a radio in my bathroom, but long technical suggestions from BJ and Mickey didn’t help much and the Radio Shack guy’s eyes glazed over. So I gave up.

Which is o.k. because I then discovered NPR and have been much happier with the reporting ever since.

However, there’s a nifty invention out now that could have resolved my issue in an expensive but space age kind of way. Shiny Shiny has a blurb about VisionMirror.

The VisionMirror is a normal mirror when it’s off, but spark up the evening news and a TV screen will miraculously appear from within, allowing you to watch TV and yourself at the same time. There’s also a waterproof version available should you want to lounge in the bath and channel surf at the same time.

Like the author of the article, all I can think is that this sort of thing will only make me later for work…
