The following email was sent to our IT Department:

BAC = Big Ass Company

I attempted to access www.airamericaradio.com to check out a news story on my own time but was denied.

Access Denied!
[BAC] has determined this site to be non-business related. If you think this site was categorized incorrectly, please notify us with the web site URL and request that the site be re-categorized.

Thank you.

Out of curiosity I checked out the following sites (again, on my own time)

www.howiecarr.com/

www.rushlimbaugh.com

www.MichaelSavage.com

www.hannity.com

http://www.foxnews.com/tonysnow/

www.lauraingraham.com/public/

?? How are these sites deemed business related other then the fact they spew they are pro business?

Signed,
Big-Wig Dept Director

The response from the acting CIO of the IT Department explained that Air America is blocked because people were abusing it by using the bandwidth to listen to the radio broadcasts via internet. Apparently, ESPN is also banned.

Interestingly, while Friendster.com is banned, eBay.com is not. I know this because I got curious. Also, while ebay.com is not banned on campus for Adult Education, Yahoo!Groups is. It’s strange what’s banned and what’s not.
