To: Whoever Is In Charge
This is to let you know that I will not be returning to your store with the intent to purchase clothes following my experience this weekend.
As you may know, a recent study indicates that almost 65% of adults suffer from obesity in the United States and in Maine the percentage of obese adults is nearly 24%. [“Obesity up in almost every state” (WebMD)] So why is it that in your South Portland store, the size of the Women’s department is less than 10′ x 10′?
To make matters worse, the Women’s department is in the

- I tried to explain to a lesbian friend why women like the Baldwin brothers, but since they aren’t my type, she just looked at me like I was nuts.
- PW’s beaux is arriving in New Orleans in time for them to evacuate for the hurricane.
- El is worried that the hurricane will interfere with our Thursday flights to Atlanta as the weather system might be there by then.
- I think I heard on the news that there were two more incidents with planes last night.
- Maybe I’ll take the valium to get on the plane after all this time rather than do what the

Somewhere in my blog wandering last week, I saw a post about how there are basically four types of people in the U.S. I tried to find it again this morning because it really made me think about my stand on the War in Iraq, but sadly I was unsuccessful. I’m over 30 now and the brain is the first thing to go, you know.
Anyway, the four types of people in the U.S.:
- Supported the Invasion of Iraq and think we should finish the job.
- Supported the Invasion of Iraq but feel we should pull out now.
- Didn’t support the Invasion of Iraq and feel we should pull out now.
- Didn’t support the Invasion of Iraq but feel we should finish the job.

So, it turns out that many of our soldiers and reservists and National Guards are coming home with Uranium poisoning. One case was so bad that his unborn daughter had a condition common to those with radioactive exposure: atypical syndactyly, resulting in a hand with only two fingers. [“Radioactive Wounds of War” (In These Times)]
Now before you war-supporters start shouting “You see! WMD! We were right!”, it’s important to know that the exposure is courtesy of the U.S. military itself.
U.S. forces first used [Depleted Uranium] in the 1991 Gulf War, when some 300 tons of depleted

Well, my generous hostess, who lets me use space in her domain, poked me that I didn’t have any way for people to contact me other than comments on the site. Apparently, she received some sort of unsolicited email from someone she thinks was trying to reach me.
Sooooooo…now there’s that nifty “Contact N. Mallory” link over on the left in the sidebar.

Over the past year, I’ve been thinking a lot about this big political tug-of-war this country has gotten into. It really does seem that there are a lot of very vocal people on both sides who are shouting rhetoric and propoganda back and forth.
It seems to me that many conservatives cannot get past Clinton’s marital indiscretions that ended up splashed all over the daily news for ages thanks to Newt Gingridge and Kenneth Starr — oh, and they don’t like the fact that he lied about it either.
And many liberals are hung up on the mysteriously disappearing Weapons of

well, here we are again on a Friday and I’m like “Oh, shit! Gotta do my sentences!”
- One morning she woke up and realized she simply could not eat another bite of the institutionalized powdered scrambled eggs.
- He’d always heard that in the West you could become someone else, anyone else, and he intended to do just that.

- Time travel always gave Daylynn such a migraine.
- Really, everyone thought familiars were nifty until they got an overly chatty one.

This is why I like to sit where I can see the wings and the engines…

There are just some things I want to know…and if I’m going to die, I want to know I need to finish the Twizzlers in my backpack quick.

- I’ve been avoiding getting on the scale for a month now. I really should so I’m aware of how much weight I’ve gained. Maybe it’ll be like a wake up call.
- I’ve been avoiding taking my blood pressure the last two weeks since the daily migraines returned. I’m fairly certain it’s high. I’m taking my BP med. There’s not much else to be done. Why upset myself more by knowing just how hight it is.
- Check my credit card balances to see just how much I spent this month.
- Tell my parents about my nose piercing.

Despite nation-wide and world-wide criticism of his remarks regarding assassinating Chavez earlier this week, Robertson is not backing down.
The 700 Club comes on at 11pm locally on The Family Channel of all places. I know this because usually reruns of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? run from 10pm to 11pm and sometimes I don’t find the channel clicker in time. Last night was one of those times and by the time I got it, I was unable to change the channel because I was standing there with my jaw on the floor. Last night’s The 700

I totally want this for my bathroom.

My cats would love it or hate it — I’m not sure. As it is they already are fascinated with the faucet. Can you imagine trying to catch the fish?
I wonder how they clean the tank.

O.K. So, My mother works for the American Red Cross. I’m very proud of her because she’s nationally known and respected and they just offered her a real paying job.
Well, she used to work on one of the city boards and now she’s running one of the city offices and she lectures at conventions and now they’ve offered to pay her to teach.
And that’s not even the tip of the iceberg for my mom’s accomplishments.

I don’t know how anyone finds good graphics to use on websites. I’ve tried searching through Google and A9.com and I’ve tried the whole Creative Commons thing but I never seem to find actual graphics using CC.
I have some cute ideas for graphics for a website I’m designing but as I am artistically challenged, I need to find something close or hire someone but I can’t find diddly squat.
*grrrr*

- Someone’s going to die in this office today and it’s not going to be me.
- I have decided that on Sept. 7th, after my vacation, I am going back to eating healthy and watching my weight, but I am not going to obsess about food.
- I cannot find either of my copies of The Gradual Vegetarian. I’m sure the cats have hid them somewhere.
- I really need a vacation.
- I don’t know why but I’ve been craving toast for days. I don’t normally eat or buy bread so it’s weird that I’m fantasizing about lightly toasted bread smeared with real butter mixed

Earlier, I posted about Ex-Sgt. Nadim Abou Rabeh’s version of Saddam’s capture and how he claims the army re-enacted the capture to alter the details a bit.
Now, I’ve been made aware of yet another discrepency in the televised “truths” we’ve come to rely on in the War in Iraq. Apparently, the version of the Jessica Lynch capture and rescue that we’ve been told isn’t the only version.
In an article in mid-May of this year, The Guardian printed an article about Jessica Lynch’s rescue that suggests that facts of her situation were embellished to provide the American

I first heard this on NPR this morning. It’s worth a giggle. I mean, we complain about some of our laws being too controlling…
ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan - He has outlawed opera and ballet and railed against long hair and gold teeth, but now the authoritarian president of Turkmenistan is determined to wipe out another perceived scourge: lip synching.
President Saparmurat Niyazov has ordered a ban on lip synching performances across the tightly controlled Central Asian nation, citing “a negative effect on the development of singing and musical art,” the president’s office said Tuesday.
“Unfortunately, one can see on television old voiceless

Jazz at Running Scared has written a brilliant piece on losing faith in the government.
People get the government (and by extension, the press) that they deserve. Governments evolve and the press operates in conditions which breed them naturally. A rising tide of fascism (and I mean the real definition of fascism) has bred a generation that has no interest in questioning any actions of the government as long as “their party” is in power. The press has grown soft and willing to look blindly aside under the guise of “not being partisan” so long as they keep their

After reading about Jeff Jarvis’ problems with Dell, I’m rethinking buying another Dell. I mean, this lock-up problem has been a problem from the beginning and it’s just gotten worse and worse until it’s intollerable. In the beginning, I called their tech support but the language barrier of me speaking English and them not was a real issue. I got so frustrated I never called back and just lived with the problem, which is probably what they wanted in the first place. As much as I like the laptop, I have to wonder with Jeff’s

While I appologize to the person who came here looking for nude pictures of Kevin Sorbo, I must thank the almost 350 people who stopped by yesterday. Wow. That’s more people than was in my high school.
Anyway, I hope y’all come back and hang ’round and leave me comments. I love hearing other people’s opinions and having intelligent discussions on just about any topic. Don’t be strangers.
