Well, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed Blackwood Farm by Anne Rice. It was a nice merging of the two “worlds” she’s been writing in. By that I mean that I liked the Mayfair witches (though not Taltos in particular) and I have enjoyed the Vampire Chronicles (though not Tale of the Body Thief at all) and while she merged the two in Merrick, the character Merrick wasn’t that interesting to me. Rice managed to create something altogether different with Blackwood Farm and even managed to poke some fun at her self more than once —

Someone on one of the Weight Watcher message boards said this and I had to chuckle:
Apparently someone stole “the buck stops here” sign that Harry Truman left on the desk in the Oval Office.

I cannot seem to accept the idea that more people seem to unquestioningly, blindly believe every single utterance of the Bush Administration despite any contrary facts than believe unquestioningly that there is a God.
It frustrates me to no end that you cannot argue or debate the issues with these people because they can only regurgitate the rhetoric and propoganda and will eventually turn to name calling and accusing those who don’t whole-heartedly agree as unpatriotic traitors and resort to their anthem “Remember 9/11!”
I, of course, vividly remember 9/11, sometimes still in waking nightmares. I believe that those involved should

Well, last night I sat down with the compiler and book for C#. I quickly came to two realizations:
- I have been out of mainstream programming way too long and it’s going to be a struggle to get caught up with technology.
- C# and the .NET Platform is way more technical than I want to deal with right now. I really need some sort of beginner’s book to help me get my feet wet and get started on a software program I want to write and then deal with the serious technical details later.
Of course, the first is going to

The migraine is much better. I’m down to a mild headache. I’m not nauseated any more and in fact, I feel hungry though I still don’t want to eat anything.
Also, I’m feeling a - well - not as depressed as I was. I’m extremely interested in half-a-dozen things and don’t know what to start on first.
This is a good sigh since I usually have a billion things to do and no interest in doing anything lately.

I have a migraine. I feel like I’m going to throw up. My face feels hot. I feel clammy. My body feels chilled. My ears have started to hurt. My head is pounding.
I don’t want to go home because I’m afraid I’m too sick to drive, not to mention, to walk to the car in the garage. I also don’t want to tell any of my co-workers.
Blah.

So, I’ve been struggling with debt since I got out of college. Let’s face it; I loved accounting but I’m no good at curbing personal spending. But last year, I’d made the commitment to paying everything off so I could eventually buy a home of my own.
I arranged for my credit card debt to be consolidated on one card at 0% interest until Sept. 2004. I started paying it down and putting money in a savings account. The idea was to pay the minimum on the 0% interest debt and put the

Anyway, my pinched nerve/hurt leg is much better. It’s really only bothering me when I drive or if I sit too long in the same position now. Still, my mom wants me to bring it up to the new doctor next week. I have a huge list to talk about.
I’m trying to find a new health journal to buy and start using. I liked the MemoryMinder one (www.dietminder.com) because of the first page for each day with the place to track sleep, weight, BP, meds, vitamins, and exercise and the human diagram to track

Am I the only one who thinks of the guy from “Crossing Over” every time the media discusses Kerry’s Democratic VP candidate? Will he be channelling dead presidents in the oval office?

So, this afternoon I mentioned to my boss and co-workers that I needed more work to do. Honestly it’s been bothering me that my projects all seem to have been “hurry up and wait” and I’m on perpetual hold on all of them. I’m either waiting on a vendor to resolve something, waiting on a vendor to redesign the whole system, or waiting on the user to test something or check with her vendor because something didn’t work on her side. I so want to be useful and therefore not have my boss realize they don’t need

My big plans for the three day weekend had been to get my hair “done”, exercise lots, re-organize my kitchen, clean house, and go see some movies — preferably Spiderman 2, Fahrenheit 9/11 and The Terminal. Most of the plans were ruined Friday evening when while walking, I got a sharp pain in the back of my right thigh and my right side just below my rib cage. Since I do sometimes get such a pain in my right side and am usually able to push through it, I tried to continue my walk, but the pain spread

Today I was talking to a few co-workers as we walked to lunch about plantations outside of New Orleans and how some of the old buildings are still lived in despite the fact that some still don’t have electricity. And one of them made some weird remark such as “Like Blackwood Farm?”
I was kind of taken aback as I had just updated my site with what I was reading and had just started reading Blackwood Farm by Anne Rice this morning. Parnoia griped me and I asked him how he knew I was reading that book.
