The 411 On My Reflective Silence

I really wanted to sit down and write out my feelings yesterday, because Thursday night I went to see Farenheit 9/11 and then came home and listened to John Kerry’s acceptance speech. I was impressed and touched by both in different ways. However, neither relieved that strange feeling of unease that I’d been feeling on Thursday during the day. If anything, that feeling was more intense as I lay in my bed that night thinking of everything from the Bin Laden’s doing business with the Bushes to the promise of a better tomorrow to the seemingly inevitable

Something Wicked This Way Comes?

Posted in My Life by n. mallory

For some reason for the last few hours, I have had a strange sense of uneasiness and dread. I’m not sure where it’s coming from, but I feel it in my chest and it threatened to affect my breathing right there at the back of my throat…this feeling of foreboding…

A Few Words From Teresa Heinz Kerry

These are exerpts from her speach at the DNC on Wednesday:

“There is a value in taking a stand, whether or not anybody may be noticing it, and whether or not it is a risky thing to do…”

“…My right to speak my mind, to have a voice, to be what some have called ‘opinionated’…is a right I deeply and profoundly cherish. And my only hope is that one day soon, my only hope is that, one day soon, women, who have all earned their right to their opinions…instead of being labeled opinionated will be called smart and well-informed, just like

No Such Thing As Friendly Politics

Normally, I try to avoid conversations about politics with Peter and BJ as a rule. They are both just a bit too intense regarding their political beliefs and I would sometimes say they seem a bit fanatical. When I was dating BJ, back during the last Presidential election, it was downright scary some of the things he said in his political ferver supporting Bush. Mind you, I did vote for Bush in the last election. I was a supporter, but I never outright said that anyone who voted against him was stupid or somesuch. He

It Could Be Worse After All

Posted in My Life, Friends & Family by n. mallory

Well, I e-corresponded with NG today, getting all the gossip, etc. I knew that Princess Mommy had gotten promoted but that was pretty much it. She said Princess Mommy’s underling actually got the job of the person who had “replaced” me.

But the really interesting news is that they moved all of the interface people down the street to some office. They are all in one room now with a community phone. She said that they’re uncomfortable and playtime is over. :hehe: I asked her about the Manager and she said he had been

Decisions, Decisions

Posted in My Life, Geekery, Clean Sweep by n. mallory

Well, because I played The Sims all weekend and pretty much did nothing else, I have lots of chores that need to be done today, including going to the grocery store. I promised myself that if I got all of my chores done last night and tonight I could go see The Bourne Supremecy on Thursday night. I have my art class tomorrow night so that night is completely unavailable for chores. I get home too late to be useful in cleaning, etc.

However, MJ invited me this morning to an auction that’s going to be

More PBeM Frustrations & Drama

Posted in My Life, Friends & Family, Writing, Geekery, Roleplaying by n. mallory

Well, the pbem still isn’t up and running. SQ had some problems writing the email so that no one came out as the bad guy but everyone was shown as responsible for their own part, moderators and players alike. J’s email to SQ and me seemed to indicate that she accepted her part in it all and that she wasn’t sure she should remain a moderator, but when SQ and I made the decision to replace her and she saw the rough draft of SQ’s email, she got extremely defensive and was all negative and kept avoiding us

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today and other political musings

Posted in Politics & Causes, Some Fun Now, The World by n. mallory

Someone sent this to me. It makes for thought-provoking reading.

THINGS YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE TO BE A REPUBLICAN TODAY

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush’s daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a “we can’t find Bin Laden” diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

A woman can’t be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions

Official Statement: Negotiations Are Still In Process. Please Wait For An Announcement.

This morning I am in danger of having a blink turn into a nap. I am so sleepy working on just 3-1/2 hours of sleep, but at least I feel less stressed out this morning about the goings on of the pbem.

I don’t know how much of this will make sense to anyone because I am so friggin’ tired that I’m having trouble formuating sentenses.

Anyway, I did talk to the doctor yesterday (or her nurse at least) and was told that the amitriptyline couldn’t be causing the racing heart and horribly high blood pressure (once it was 153/89).

I’m Getting Ill Over This Stuff

SQ still won’t give up the game and now she’s mad that I got the original creator of the game to “harass” her. What I did was talk to the original creator and she was upset and agreed to appeal to SQ. SQ also thinks I put NetPoet up to his angry email, but honestly I didn’t talk to NetPoet until after his email. I figured since he had stepped down as an admin to just be a player because of other interests, he probably wouldn’t care one way or the other if the game died as

I Just Don’t Understand

Posted in My Life, Friends & Family, Writing, Geekery, Roleplaying by n. mallory

SQ simply refuses to give the PBeM game back to me or anyone else. I can’t believe she’s being such a selfish bitch. Just because she doesn’t have time to play or run the game anymore doesn’t mean that she should deny everyone the right to continue the game where it originated four years ago. All of that hard work and creativity, the different owners, different moderators and different players, all put to an end because she has a bug up her ass. I’m not the only one trying to get it back and her answer

Apple & Pear — My First Art Project

Posted in My Life by n. mallory

So here’s my first art project completed and hung in my kitchen window:

ApplePear1 (198k image)

Now I’m working on a gecko that my mother has already started to nag me about. In fact, she’s already sending me emails with suggestions for various Christmas presents for people. The gecko has already taken me like six hours and I only work on it 2.5 hours a week. I have other projects I want to do for me. This is one reason I gave up cross-stitching — all those hours and

Updates & Stuff

Well, it’s the first time in a while that I’ve been worked up over somthing not involving work or politics. :hehe: There are enough people who still want to play the game that if we have to, we’ll go to another list and keep playing. I’d rather not move. I’ve invested a lot of time and energy into that list and it’s set up. I do think I’ll change the way things are run once I’m in control again. It’s a bit too restrictive, and part of that is my fault. I

I Am So Pissed

Posted in My Life, Friends & Family, Writing, Geekery, Roleplaying by n. mallory

A year and a half ago, SQ asked me to give her ownership of a PBeM I had been half-heartedly running. She had grand plans for it and I reluctantly did so. I was not the original owner of the game, but had been on the game the longest. I had shared the burden of running the game with another player. The three of us became co-moderators and eventually brought a fourth into the fold.

The game went really well for about a year and then in December something just went wrong, I guess. I know

Stupid Printer

Posted in Geekery, Computer & Gadget Talk by n. mallory

I don’t understand. I was printing stuff 2 weeks ago without a problem. Now my printer gives me one of two errors. Either it thinks it can’t communicate with the laptop or it says there’s a cartridge error. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling the cartridges. I’ve unplugged and rebooted everything. Still won’t print. Of course, I have stuff I need to print and has to be printed from my laptop as it’s in software.

Grrrrrrr….stupid Lexmark x5150…

I know the usb port works fine because I downloaded pictures from my digital

Disappointed In The American Crowd

Yesterday at the Clam Festival, I stopped to watch the Firemen’s Muster. At the beginning they marched out the American Flag and played the national anthem. I was really disappointed, that in a country that slings around the words “patriot” and “patriotism” like they are compliments, privilleges and duty, very few people removed their hats and just as few people placed their hands over their hearts. In fact, some people who were chattering raised their voices so their mundane conversations could be heard over the music.

After seeing Spiderman 2 I am now wondering if maybe Bush’s inhibitor chip, that stops members of his administration from taking control of his mind, might be broken.

Visit with the Doctor

Posted in My Life, Wellness, Migraine by n. mallory

So, I went to the new doctor today. I really like her and apparently I’m really lucky to get her as she has few patients personally; she’s a teaching doctor and usually works as the “backup” for the residences. She’s really great and attentive.

We have a lot of things to work on but we’ve decided to focus on a few things right now and think about other things. First on the list is the insomnia/sleeping issues and the migraine. I’m being scheduled for a sleep study which will involve at least one night spent in the

Donating Time

Posted in My Life, Politics & Causes, Wellness, The World, Migraine by n. mallory

I’m thinking about donating some time and volunteering to the Democratic Presidential campaign. I’ve been thinking about it for a couple days or so. I’ve never done anyting like it. I know Peter personally gets a lot out of volunteering for campaign work, though he’s a die-hard Republican (which is OK, I guess :P), and I am generally an independent. This is the first time in 10 years I’ve been registered as anything but Independent, but I feel very strongly about this election in particular.

Plus, it would be a good way to hopefully meet some
